FAQs for Whelford residents: We know people will understandably have questions about what has happened and the support available, so we’ve helped pull together answers to some of the most frequently asked questions.
Once a plan has been approved with a referendum and then approved by us it is made and becomes part of the Local Plan.
The following areas have made neighbourhood plans and they must be taken into account when planning developments in the area.
A referendum on the Chipping Campden Neighbourhood Plan was held on Thursday 20th August 2026 and passed with 95% voting in favour of the plan.
The plan was then made (adopted) by Cotswold District Council on Friday 25th September 2026, see here: https://meetings.cotswold.gov.uk/ieListDocuments.aspx?CId=1428&MId=2727

A referendum on the Down Ampney Neighbourhood Development Plan was held on Thursday 29 February 2024 and passed with 95.6% voting in favour of the plan.
The plan was then made by Cotswold District Council on 6 March 2024.

A referendum on the Fairford Neighbourhood Development Plan was held on Thursday 4 May 2023 and passed with 89.8% voting in favour of the plan.
The plan was then made by Cotswold District Council on 5 June 2023.

The referendum for the Kemble and Ewen neighbourhood plan was held on 6 May 2021, and passed with 89% voting in favour of the plan.

The referendum for the Lechlade on Thames neighbourhood plan was held on 13 October 2016, and passed with 88% voting in favour of the plan.

The referendum for Northleach with Eastington was held in March 2019, and passed with 90.4% voting in favour of the plan.
The referendum for the Preston neighbourhood plan was held on 6 May 2021, and passed with 88% voting in favour of the plan.

The referendum for the Somerford Keynes and Shorncote neighbourhood plan was held on 6 May 2021, and passed with almost 92% voting in favour of the plan.
The referendum for the South Cerney neighbourhood plan was held on 2 December 2021, and passed with 90.9% voting in favour of the plan.

A referendum on the Stow-on-the-Wold and the Swells Neighbourhood Development Plan was held on Thursday 26 September 2024 and passed with 82% voting in favour of the plan.
The plan was then made by Cotswold District Council on 3 October 2024.

The referendum for Tetbury and Tetbury was held in December 2017 and passed with 93.99% voting in favour of the plan.
