How to pay your Council Tax

Your yearly Council Tax charge is normally payable in 10 monthly instalments due on the first of the month. There are a number of different ways to pay your Council Tax. 

Pay by Direct Debit

To set up a Direct Debit or to edit your payment details:

Paying online is easy and secure. We accept all major credit and debit cards.

You can also set up and manage an online account.

Pay by phone

Call 01285 623666 at any time to pay using a debit or credit card. There is no administration charge for payments made using a debit or credit card. 

Any payment made on this automated payment line after 4pm will show on our records after two working days. For example, in a normal working week a payment made after 4pm on a Friday will show on the following Tuesday.

Standing order

You can use a bank transfer to send us a single payment, or to set up a regular standing order to pay your bill by instalments. To do this, you will need our bank details on the standing order form below.

Pay by post

Send payments to the Revenues and Benefits service, Trinity Road, Cirencester, Gloucestershire, GL7 1PX.  Let us know if you would like a receipt.

Cheques should be made payable to Cotswold District Council, with your account number on the back of the cheque. 

Cash should not be sent through the post unless it is in a registered envelope

If you do not pay your Council Tax

If you do not pay your Council Tax we are required by law to follow statutory procedures to recover the debt using Council Tax enforcement.
