Transfer of hackney carriage vehicle licence

You can apply to transfer a hackney carriage vehicle licence for the following:

Temporary Vehicle (insurance company)
Transfer vehicle to another vehicle (1 year)
Transfer vehicle to another vehicle (remainder of plate)
Transfer vehicle licence to another person (also requires the completion of consent to transfer form)
Change of registration number

What you will need to transfer licence

valid insurance documents
valid MOT certificate (unless the vehicle is less than 1 year old from date of registration)
V5 document
Consent form completed for when transferring licence to another person
A credit or debit card to make payment

Transfer applications have the same requirements as new vehicles.

for new and transfer applications, the vehicle must be less than 5 years old from the date of first registration
for renewal applications, the vehicle must be less than 15 years old from the date of first registration

The vehicle must have:

Wheelchair accessible vehicles are exempt from the age requirements. Other specialist vehicles may also be exempt.

The council will not refund any licences.
