Code of conduct for councillors

All councils must have a code of conduct for councillors. The Code of Conduct outlining the conduct expected from Cotswold District Councillors is below. Parish and town councils within the district area have their own code of conduct which can normally be found on that council’s website.

Complaints against councillors

To make a complaint that a councillor is not following the code of conduct, complete the Members' Complaint Form and return it to [email protected].

The form can be used to make a complaint about a councillor or co-opted member of:

  • Cotswold District Council
  • A Parish or Town Council within the Cotswold district area

Complaints must be submitted using the complaint form. We can assist you if you have a disability that prevents you from making your complaint in writing. We can also help if English is not your first language.

If you need any support in completing this form, please contact [email protected] or call 01285 623000.

When submitting a complaint please note:

  • We are only able to investigate complaints without disclosing the identity of the complainant in exceptional circumstances
  • If your complaint is largely about a service or a corporate decision, it will be dealt with under the general complaint process

Register of interests

One of the requirements in the code is that councillors must register specified interests.

Registers of interests for individual Cotswold District councillors are available to view via the Your councillors webpages.

Registers of interests for Town and Parish Councillors are available to view via the Parish council contact details webpages.

Gifts and hospitality

Councillors must register any hospitality or gifts offered and accepted or declined.

Gifts and hospitalities records are available to view on the Your councillors webpages.

Details of these are also available to download.

Both the register of interests and register of gifts and hospitality can be inspected during office hours at the council offices.
