Drugs & alcohol
The misuse of drugs and alcohol can cause harm to individuals and communities, often leading to health problems and crime and anti-social behaviour.
Cotswold District Council works with its partners, including the police, public health, youth service and the voluntary sector to tackle the misuse of drugs and alcohol. In particular, our work contributes to the Gloucestershire Alcohol Plan, which aims:
“To reduce the actual and potential harm caused by alcohol misuse to individuals and communities whilst ensuring that alcohol can be enjoyed safely and responsibly.”
We do this in a variety of ways, such as providing basic information and advice on alcohol and drug related harm at community events, undertaking joint licensing visits with the Police and tackling alcohol or drug related crime and anti-social behaviour where it occurs.
We also run the successful Don’t Buy 4 Under 18s scheme, to raise awareness of the risks associated with underage drinking and to discourage adults from buying alcohol for young people under the age of 18.
