Travellers have vacated Beeches Car Park

Release date: 10 July 2016

A group of travellers vacated the Beeches Car Park in Cirencester on Sunday 10 July, having occupied the site illegally since 7 July.

During this occupation, the Council immediately offered Beeches car park season ticket holders the option of using the nearby Waterloo Car Park.

After receiving assurances that the travellers would vacate the site on Friday 8 July, the Council served legal papers when it became clear that they were not leaving that day.  The documents required that the travellers had to vacate the site by 10 pm on Sunday 10 July.

They complied with this offer during the afternoon of 10 July.  Crews from Ubico were alerted to carry out a comprehensive clean-up.
