Preparing for probable waste and recycling collection delays due to adverse weather

Release date: 27 February 2018

UPDATE THURS 1 MARCH -  ALL WASTE AND RECYCLING COLLECTION CREWS ARE OUT TODAY AND THEY ANTICIPATE COMPLETING ALL COLLECTIONS.  THEY ARE BEGINNING AT OUTLYING AREAS SUCH AS AVENING AND DAGLINGWORTH AND WILL WORK THEIR WAY TO MORE CENTRAL AREAS SUCH AS STRATTON AND BOWLING GREEN.

PLEASE ENSURE THAT ALL BINS AND CONTAINERS DUE FOR COLLECTIONS ARE PLACED AT THE KERBSIDE BEFORE 7 AM.

Current weather forecasts show that the bitterly cold spell is set to continue until the end of this week, with a very strong likelihood of snow in the Cotswolds on Thursday and Friday.

So far waste and recycling collections have not been disrupted but the Council's waste collector, Ubico Ltd, is keeping a close eye on weather conditions and may have to postpone operations if the situation deteriorates. Meanwhile, it is possible that  crews might not be able to empty some green garden waste bins if the contents are frozen.

As usual, if there are disruptions to collections residents should leave their waste and recycling at the kerbside and Ubico crews will try to pick them up as soon as practicable.

Please call our waste hotline on 01285 623123 if you have any queries. Regular updates will appear at /
