Lucy wins major inspirational leader award

Release date: 20 August 2015

Lucy Cater, Deputy Head of Internal Audit at Audit Cotswolds, has recently won a prestigious national award recognising her as an inspirational leader in the public sector.

Judges for the inaugural Chartered Institute of Internal Auditors Audit & Risk Awards were very impressed by the scale and quality of Lucy’s achievements and, despite a large number of other high calibre contenders, they felt she was the clear winner in the inspirational leader category.

Head of Audit Cotswolds, Rob Milford, was delighted when the result came through:

“Lucy joined us in 2008 as a trainee and has continually applied herself and developed her internal auditing skills to a very high standard. She gained an MSc in Audit Management & Consultancy in her own time over a period of three years, and has become an excellent auditor who is always keen to share her knowledge and skills with the rest of the team.  She is adept at identifying areas where team members may need some extra support and finds innovative ways of providing the required training and development.

“Away from work she has a very active family life and many other commitments, and she is able to balance these alongside her demanding workload. She makes this look effortless and always finds time for any team members who may need help.”

His enthusiasm was echoed by Jenny Poole, the Head of Finance and Audit, GO Shared Services, who added:

“Lucy is a tremendous asset to the organisation and has many personal qualities that make her an inspirational leader. She’s organised, hardworking, dedicated and capable, and has excellent communication skills. Audit Cotswolds has been through a significant period of change over the last two years, and Lucy has been a constant guiding presence, remaining optimistic and focussed throughout.  She is passionate about her role and demonstrates a laudable commitment to carrying out audits which are of a consistently high standard and delivered within the appropriate timescales. Lucy leads by example and truly inspires the team to pull together and achieve excellent results.”
