Change to the Service

From March 2020 the garden waste collections will change from a weekly to a fortnightly schedule (food waste collections will remain weekly). A fee for the service has not yet been decided.  Once the fortnightly collections have been running for a few months the council intends to look at how the changes are performing and what the impact has been like for residents. As part of this review, residents will be invited to take part in a public consultation. The feedback from residents will help the council understand how well the service is working and whether any further changes are needed.

Also from March 2020, residents will no longer be able to present mixed food waste in their garden waste bins along with garden waste. From that point the food waste material will be going to an Anaerobic Digestion facility to be used to produce electricity. This will bring the Cotswolds in line with how the rest of Gloucestershire already manages its food waste.

Residents will be provided with larger and more robust pest-proof household food waste bins to allow for the separation and storage of their food waste when presented for collection.
