We cut the grass to ensure that people can use roads and pavements safely. Although environmental issues are of paramount concern, grass cutting is actually carried out for highway safety reasons rather than environmental purposes.
We do not cut the grass that is:
- privately owned
- on properties/estates owned by bodies other than the Council
We provide a full list of verges and other land areas that we are responsible for cutting. If the area is not on the list, it is likely to either be the responsibility of Gloucestershire County Council Highways Department or the local parish council.
If it is too wet, we may have difficulty getting onto the area. If this is the case we will have to wait until the ground is dry.
