Reducing carbon emissions

Greenhouse gas emissions report

We monitor, and take action to reduce the environmental impact of our service delivery and operations. To support this we have developed a Climate Change and Carbon Management Plan, a Green Travel Plan, and a Use of Natural Resources Strategy. These action plans support our commitment to deliver a 25% reduction in carbon emissions compared to the 2008/09 baseline by 2015/16.

At the request of the Department of Energy and Climate Change, and as a replacement to national indicator 185 "% CO2 reduction from local authority operations", local councils have been tasked with producing an annual greenhouse gas emissions report. The greenhouse gas emissions report details the Councils' emissions arising from gas, electricity and water consumption, the Council's own vehicles, business travel, the waste collection service.
