Payments - How and Where

Council tax is charged on a yearly basis from 1 April to 31 March.

It can be paid in two ways:

• in 10 monthly instalments starting in April and ending in January with no instalments in February or March, or
• as 12 monthly instalments if you pay by direct debit

If you currently pay your Council Tax by direct debit and would like to spread your instalments through to March 2013 then please contact us.

If however you would like to begin paying your Council Tax by direct debit and spread your instalments through to March 2013 please complete the direct debit mandate form and return to us.

Please note that if you have already made some payments of Council Tax on your 2012-13 account, the balance will be divided by the remaining instalments left available in the year. If you would like to know what your instalments will be please contact us.        

METHODS OF PAYMENT

By direct debit on 3rd of the month:

We recommend you pay your council tax by Direct Debit.  It is the effective way to keep costs down while saving you time and effort.  You can set up a Direct Debit by telephoning 01285 623033 or by printing off the mandate below, completing it and sending it to us. 

By phone:

Debit or credit card payments may be made by phoning 01285 623666 at any time of day or night.

Please note:  Any payment made on this automated payment line after 4pm will not show on our records for two working days.  For example, a payment made after 4pm on a Friday would not show until the Tuesday in a normal working week.

Credit card payments are subject to a 1.75% surcharge.

Cheques and postal orders should be made payable to Cotswold District Council. Please ensure that you write your account number on the back of the cheque. Cash should not be sent through the post unless it is in a registered envelope. Please let us know if you would like a receipt.

Payment in person

Payments may be made at either of the following locations

The Council Offices, Trinity Road, Cirencester

8:45am to 5:00pm Monday to Friday

The Council Offices, High Street, Moreton-in-Marsh

8:45am to 4:00pm on Mondays and Fridays
8:45am to 4:30pm on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays
10:30am to 12:00pm on Saturdays
