Grass cutting
Why does the Council cut the grass?
The Council cuts grass to ensure that people can use roads and pavements safely. Although environmental issues are of paramount concern, grass cutting is actually carried out for highway safety reasons rather than environmental purposes.
What grass won't the Council cut?
We do not cut the grass that is:
- privately owned
- on properties/estates owned by bodies other than the Council
What grass will the Council cut and how often?
For a full list of verges and other land areas that the Council are responsible for cutting please view this document Grass Cutting Areas
If it is too wet, we may have difficulty getting onto the area. If this is the case we will have to wait until the ground is dry.
