• Accountancy
  Preparation of budgets, accounts and providing financial advice.

  Administration of our insurance policies are in place to cover any claims relating to Council property, leased properties and the public or products.

  Anti-fraud and corruption monitoring.

  The MTFP identifies area of our work where costs and spending can be reduced and income generated.
  
  
• Mortgages
  Overseeing existing mortgages. The Council no longer issues mortgages.
  
  
• Statement of Accounts
  Annual statement of income and expenditure.

About Financial Services and Audit

This is a support service comprising Accountancy, Exchequer, Internal Audit and Grants co-ordination. The main activities of the section include:

• The provision of financial information and advice to Members and Officers, including the preparation of the Council’s annual budgets and financial statements.
• The provision of a payroll service for all employees and Members.
• The payment of suppliers and other creditors.
• Reviewing, appraising and reporting on the soundness, adequacy and application of financial and other management controls.
• Providing a central point of co-ordination for the Councils discretionary grants (including the administration of the Community Projects Fund) and the monitoring all incoming grants.

In addition to the above, the service is also responsible for the management and investment of the Council’s surplus cash resources, and safeguarding the Council’s assets by providing insurance administration.
