This autumn sees internationally renowned ceramic artist Cleo Mussi exhibiting a solo show of new work at the Corinium Museum in Cirencester. The exhibition is entitled ‘A-Z, a Face Book’ and will see Cleo build on her previous work ‘A-Z, Handbook’ whilst exploring the world of social media and the way people communicate with each other in the 21st century. Cleo’s work is bold, humorous and often tells a story. With her art supporting the ethical values of recycling, she brings life back to old and broken china - cups, mugs, bowls, plates and ornaments. Originally training at Goldsmiths College in the late 80’s, she graduated in textiles. From there, she applied her knowledge of textiles to mosaic design and decoration. This development in her working practice shows how the processes in her work have matured with an obsessive emphasis on ‘Making and Materials’. Her interest in recycled fabrics, knowledge of pattern, print, weave and stitch translates easily into reclaimed ceramic. ‘A~Z, a Face Book’ is a selling exhibition offering an opportunity for people to purchase a very collectable piece of art.
