Rural Cinema scheme
Cotswold District Council’s Rural Cinema scheme has been operating since 2003 circulating both equipment and at least two films per month to venues across Cotswold District. There are approximately 30+ venues regularly participating within the scheme.
The Rural Cinema project has been devised to provide rural communities with the opportunity to access quality cinema entertainment. The aim is to take a high quality film experience to rural isolated areas, and in doing so encourage the rejuvenation of local communities by providing new entertainment and encouraging local groups to take on the promotion and management of the events.
The project allows venues such as village halls or schools to screen films often within three months of the commercial cinema release and before the rental release and in doing so raise money for their community.
