Bourton Community Day will banish Friday 13th blues

Release Date: Apr 05, 2012

Representatives from Cotswold District Council, the Police and Fire Service are joining forces on Friday 13th April to present a Community Day event at Melville playing field, Bourton on the Water from 12 noon to 3.00 pm.

Those attending will be able to find out more about the wide range of services provided by the District Council, and the role in the community of Parish Councils, Police and Fire services.  There will also be opportunities to find out about local youth and housing groups.

There is fun in store with the chance to join in African drumming sessions, learn some circus skills, and get involved in other arts of crafts courtesy of World Jungle, which organises CDC’s Summer off the Streets programme.

Commenting on the event, Cllr Carole Topple , the CDC Cabinet lead for Housing and Communities, said: “Through working in partnership with the Police and Fire Service we can provide residents with this very informative overview of the free support, advice and opportunities available to communities – and we’re also laying on some fun and games to put a few smiles on faces.  Friday 13th April may not normally appeal to the superstitious among us but it promises to be a good day out for everyone involved and I just hope we get lucky with the weather!”
