Cotswold District Council’s Parking Strategy

In March 2010 Cabinet were updated with progress on the Parking Strategy.  Independent Consultants, RTA Associates Ltd had been commissioned by the Council to undertake survey work and produce a parking report.  Members agreed to publish this report for public consultation, before producing a Parking Strategy which would be brought before Full Council in July 2010.

The consultation has been extremely useful and has produced significant feedback from over 40 consultees including Town Councils, Chambers of Commerce, Churches, other community groups, elected members, businesses and members of the public.   Thank you for your contribution to this consultation.  A copy of the consultation responses received is attached below.

One of the key concerns raised is that the Strategy must not impose changes on communities, particularly in relation to parking charges, which result in an adverse impact on business, tourism and local residents.  In order to enable the numerous comments received to be embedded in the Strategy and in recognition of these concerns, the Council intends to undertake more work on the draft Strategy before it is recommended for adoption.  This should ensure it is fit for purpose and meets the needs of communities.

The Strategy will therefore be presented firstly at Cabinet in September 2010 and then at the next scheduled Full Council meeting in October 2010.

There will be no further amendments to the District Council's parking charges or tariffs until the Strategy has been adopted.
