COTSWOLD CRIME BUSTER CALLS IT A DAY
One of the county’s leading anti-crime campaigners retires this month after devoting his whole working life to public service.
Les Haines, Cotswold District Council’s Principal Community Safety Officer, has played a major role in helping reduce crime and disorder across the county.
Les, who was engaged by local police services before joining the council, is widely recognised as an expert on crime prevention and, through his work with the Crime and Disorder Reduction Partnership, has endeared himself to many neighbourhood management and community safety groups, lending his active support to countless projects and initiatives.
Councillor Barry Gibbs, the Cotswold District Council Cabinet member for Housing and Communities commenting on Les’s efforts over the years, said: "Les’s work with the Safe and Strong Community partnership deserves special praise – his common sense approach to policing has undoubtedly contributed to a real reduction in crime across Gloucestershire, particularly in the Cotswolds region.
"Friends and well wishers have been lining up to say farewell to Les and we all hope that he continues to prosper for many years to come."
