No need to re-register for EU Referendum

Release date: 13 May 2016

Cotswold residents who were registered to vote in the Police and Crime Commissioner election last week do not have to re-register to have their voice heard in the forthcoming EU Referendum on Thursday 23 June.

There has been some confusion over this issue on social media but Sarah Dalby, Electoral Services Manager at Cotswold District Council, has  confirmed that eligible electors who were on the register for the 5 May election will also be able to cast their vote on 23 June.  The only exception would be if residents need to register at another address before the 23 June poll.

Sarah says:

“There is no need to re-register.  However anyone who missed registering for the May 5 elections and who wants to vote in the EU Referendum must do so by Tuesday 7 June.”

She adds:

“We will be sending out EU referendum poll cards to all registered voters next week.  Anyone who is expecting to receive a card and hasn’t received it by the end of May should contact elections@cotswold.gov.uk or call 01285 623002.
