Opportunity to rent and then own your own home in Lechlade!

Release date: 1 July 2016

Plymouth-based Rentplus is offering six new energy efficient affordable homes, each finished to a high specification, at a new development in Lechlade constructed by Lagan Homes.

Rentplus is a new affordable housing option aimed at people who aspire to move from renting to owning their own home. The six affordable properties will be let on five-year renewable tenancy agreements, at an affordable rent set at 80 per cent of market rent, for an agreed period of between 5 and 20 years.  This will give the tenants time to save for a deposit and build a good credit score that will support mortgage applications. At the end of the agreed period each home will be sold, preferably to the existing tenant, with a gifted deposit from Rentplus.

The mix of new semi-detached properties (two 2-bedroom,  three 3-bedroom, and one 4-bedroom)  will be let and managed by partner housing association GreenSquare and all applicants will be assessed via the Gloucestershire Homeseeker choice-based lettings system to ensure that they are suitable for the Rentplus product.

Cotswold District Council Cabinet Member for Planning and Housing Sue Jepson, says:

“This scheme shows how a partnership approach between housing providers and local authorities can create opportunities to deliver more affordable homes. I look forward to seeing the first residents move in.”
