Now that the Christmas and New Year festivities are over, many people will be turning their attention to improving their health and wellbeing in 2016.
Regular exercise is the key to a better lifestyle, and there couldn’t be a better time to sample the new state-of-the-art health and fitness facilities which have just been installed at the three leisure centres which are owned by Cotswold District Council and managed by Everyone Active.
You can be assured of a warm welcome at each facility – in Cirencester, Bourton-on-the-Water, and Chipping Campden. In fact, Cirencester Leisure Centre is inviting registered guests to come along to a free open day on Sunday 17 January (8 am to 8 pm) to test out the new gym equipment and also take part in an ‘exercise to music’ class.

Exercising in the digital age guarantees a totally different experience. The new equipment enables users to monitor their progress and they can also watch TV, listen to the radio – or even browse the Internet in some instances - while they work out in energy-efficient air-conditioned surroundings.
Cllr Lynden Stowe, the leader of CDC who is also responsible for leisure issues, recently visited the gym at Cirencester to experience the new equipment first hand:
“I really enjoyed my work out, and was very pleased to see so many people using the gym to keep fit and active. Visitor numbers have continued to increase at an impressive rate since CDC transferred the management of the leisure centres to Everyone Active, and I am sure that even more people will sign up when they sample what is on offer during the open day at Cirencester on 17 January.”
Commenting on the growth in the popularity of the leisure centres, Jamie Nesbit of Everyone Active said:
“Since taking over the management of the CDC-owned leisure centres three years ago, we have seen a 20% increase in visitor numbers at Cirencester – with gym membership growing by an impressive 40%. We’ve also seen a 35% rise in visitor numbers at Bourton, and a 15% increase at Chipping Campden.
“We look forward to welcoming more members in 2016 as word gets around about the advantages of exercising using our modern user-friendly equipment.”
